Bı tey Chicken

This morning, at the 1st and 2nd period, I and my friends, Rina and Risma, had chance to attend the cooking class. It was M.3/7 that had cooking practice. We suddenly decided to cook there too but sadly, we didn’t bring any ingredient. So we just took pictures and helped the students to cook. Actually it wasn’t a help, maybe it was disturbance but we did that because we wanted to learn how to cook ‘Chicken with Bı tey’. Bı tey means pandan leaf or daun pandan in Indonesia. There were five groups there which cooked different appetizer –So, that time was the appetizer cooking class-. We walked around observing one group to the others hoping that we could taste every food they made. Hehehe…

Surprisingly, when the students already finished cooking, the teacher, Ajarn Darren or Ajarn Dessy gave us the Bı tey Chicken as well as the Thai sauce. Whoa! Alhamdulillah… She even gave us more Bı tey Chicken when we had eaten them all. The taste was delicious and there was a strong taste that is often found in Thai cuisine. Yep! That’s celery. I don’t know why but the celery’s taste here is far different from that in my country. I always avoid Thai’s celery whenever I eat food here. However, I like the food here. The taste is more or less the same as that in my city; it is sweet, sour and a little bit spicy.

Hmm... Like a siomay

 Pancake

After ending the class, Ajarn Dessy gave us the pancake made by the students. She also wrapped us sushi from the students’ activity today. Whoa! You do know us so well, Ma’am.

I’ve been thinking for several days that Thai people are 99% very kind. Just like the other teacher and students here, Ajarn Dessy is also a very nice and kind person even though we just met. Besides giving us Bı tey Chicken, pancake and sushi, she also gave us some books of Thai local food recipes so that we can try to make them at home. I was really impressed.

Oh, my story hasn't finished yet. Do yo know what? In the middle of typing this diary, I was visited an honorable guest. Guess who. She's the director of this school, Ajarn Wandee. Whoa! So surprising! She's really care about her students that she came along at night like this to this dorm before going home. She really is a great school director.
