Living as a Student Teacher in Thailand

Living as a Student-Teacher in Thailand

Day 1
15 January 2017

At the beginning I wasn’t sure that I would get permission from my parents to join this SEAMEO program, but then I got it. Then, I didn’t have any idea whether I would pass the selection or not, but then I passed it. After that, I mistook the flight ticket that might cause me to over stay for a day in Thailand, but then it resolved. Going through those uncertainties makes me wonder whether I will be able to go to Thailand or not, but now I’m here in Bangkok, Thailand.

Having flight for about an hour from Yogyakarta to Jakarta had made my friend felt dizzy. Continued by connecting flight from Jakarta to Bangkok for about 3.5 hours had made my friend really sick. She even could not move her body to walk. So we have to wait ‘till the crew of the airline we just used came. My friend, Alfi, then was picked up by using wheelchair through the immigration and the gate where the other friend and one of the lecturer waited for us.

We then continued our journey to the dorm at Phranakorn Rajabath University. In the car, Alfi was still sick and she vomited many times. How pity she was. The lecturer, then, asked us whether we wanted to buy some foods. Even though we had said that we didn’t hungry at the time, he stopped the car in front of Seven Eleven minimarket. Okay, we got in then. We bought two gallons of water and new sim cards with their internet package. Sadly, it took so long to register them because of the lack in English of the Seven Eleven staff. Then I got back to the car to get Alfi’s passport but the lecturer was angry to us. He said that he was taking us there to buy foods, not sim cards. Oh My God! That was just my first day getting to Thailand and I’d made mistake?!

After arriving at the dorm, we were welcomed by the other friends that had arrived earlier. I know we were so noisy that time that made the other resident had to put a notice saying that we have to be quiet from 10.00 pm to 8.00 am. Hahaha… What a nice welcome.
